Tampa, Here we come!

Yesterday was officially my last day at my internship!  Yay!  Done working for free!  I never have to walk into the office and hear the Director of Sales yell, "What's up bitches?"  Yeah, very professional!  My other part-time job is at a collision repair shop, and those guys have better manners than two of my supervisors at my internship.  Well it's finished, fin, finito, terminado!!!

I'm heading to Tampa with my girlfriends for Katie's bachelorette party.  Perfect timing!  It's going to be such a nice little vacation.  I hope to take lots of pictures and make some unforgettable memories.  I love these girls!

We used to have a great time in college... We may be bringing back some shenanigans!  Peace out Kansas!

HGTV Hotties!

For the last 48 hours, I've had HGTV on non-stop.  I love watching home makeover shows and House Hunters.  It makes me want to redecorate and remodel.  It also gives me price guidelines for purchasing homes in different areas.  Although I love my rental, I always have my eye on the American Dream of home ownership.  Well, I took my inspiration and rearranged all my living room furniture.  I guess I must have learned a thing or two from watching non-stop HGTV programing, because the house totally flows!

Today, I also started another landscaping project.  This one was less for myself, and more for my lawn boy.  Seriously, I have one!  He's a really nice high school kid, but his landscaping skills are less than desirable.  He's chopped my rose bushes down twice now, and mowed over my cucumbers... SERIOUSLY!

While watching non-stop home-improvement programming, I've noticed that all the HGTV contractors are total hotties.  Hello muscles!  Maybe I'm just missing my husband, but these guys are..... NICCCCCEEEE!

Redecorating and updating costs a lot of money, what are some tips and websites you use for cheap decorating ideas and furniture?

A woMAN'S world

After work today, I ran to Wal-mart to pick up some things for the garden.  Do the contents of my cart look like a man or a woman's shopping trip?

My husband would be so proud.  :)

While in the home improvement section of Wal-mart, an old man approached me to tell me a joke.  "What's the difference between an old-fashioned dime and a new penny?  Non-sense (Nine cents)?  After the joke, I proceded to provide some awkward laughter and slowly walk away.  I know he was just trying to be friendly, but seriously!  Is it that unfamiliar to see a woman shopping for tools that a man needs to approach her with an equally awkward joke?

And when I got home, I went over to my neighbors house to bring them some goodies out of my garden.  They are well into their 70's and the nicest neighbors anyone could ask for.  I will be busy baking tonight because tomorrow I'm going to their house for dinner with their family.  Sometimes it take people like them to make me realize how wonderful people can be.

Home is where the heart is

The last month has not been the easiest for me or my husband, but things are seeming to turn around.  Jade has been living in Mexico for about a month now, and I'm learning how to live alone again.  Honestly, during the first couple of days alone, I thought they were quite relaxing.  Now, each days seems to pass slower, but there are never enough hours in the day for me to get all the work I need to do done.   Does anyone else ever feel like this?

Well, on Thursday, Jade won (or lost) however you want to look at it, a Bad Beat Jackpot of $286,000!  While this really isn't a lot of money in the scheme of life, this can potentially bring Jade back to the States to his wife and his family.  And now that I have two weeks left of my Master's required internship, I'm looking forward to taking some time off and spending it with my husband.

What I've learned through all of our travels and our ups and downs is that family is all that matters.  They are the only people who will love you no matter what.  I'm so lucky to have a great, even if we are dysfunctional, family.  On Friday, my sister and her fiance came to visit me in Lawrence.  This was Keith's first visit to Lawrence and huge step for any Mizzou fan!  We went to a fabulous dinner at Teller's and had drinks at the Eldridge.  It was a great night!

A delicious after dinner drink... key lime pie martini!

My sister, Ashton and I before... gasp... our Mind Eraser shots!  Bringin' back the ole college days!

Ashton and Keith!  So excited for their wedding! October 8th, 2011!

Thanks for coming to visit me!  Love you guys!

It's getting hot in herre...

In my last blog, I mentioned that I love summer!  This summer, I especially love because I get to be in Kansas, close to my entire family.  This weekend, my younger brother and sisters (and my sister Ashton, whom I didn't get any pictures with.  We must remedy this next weekend) came to visit me.  We had a blast.  We went to World's of Fun on Saturday and enjoyed some delicous sushi that night.  At World's of Fun we went on some crazy roller coasters and had a picnic in the parking lot!

My sister, Paige, even got to hang with Snoopy.

Today, we ran around Lawrence, and I got to show off my favorite spots around town.  Plus, when you have family like I do, crazy as they are, you are less likely to feel completely lonely when your husband is away.

As much as I love summer for being able to spend time with my family while they are out of school, I hate this heat!  We were up this morning walking the pups, and my poor bulldog could barely make it home.  Today was HOT!
